Adapter for Alteon AD3 to Cisco console cable

We purchased a Serimux console server at work, to manage our network gear over the network via the console ports. The good news was that it is configured by default to connect to Cisco console ports using standard network patch cables. The bad news was that the Alteon (Nortel Networks) AD3's (AceDirector3) that we have, use a completely different cable. The AD3's use a serial DB9-M to DB9-F cable.

I ordered several of the DB9-M to RJ45 adapters from Graybar Electric. Using my multitester, I determined that proper pin-out configuration to allow these adapters to work with a standard Cisco patch cable. I was able to take the special Alteon serial cable out of my laptop bag and replace it with an adatper that looks similar to the Cisco DB9-F console adaptr.
